Edna Jean Williams Reed

Edna Jean Williams Reed, age 69, of Clinton, SC, passed away, Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Prisma Health-Greenville Memorial Hospital. 

Edna was born May 29, 1955 in Clinton, SC and was the daughter of the late Ulysses and Azalee Byrd Williams. Throughout her life, Edna embraced various careers, including roles at Anderson Hosiery and Torrington Bearing Company. She dedicated 39 years of faithful service to Clinton Elementary School before retiring. Additionally, Edna worked as a respite caregiver for Meoke Turner for the Charles Lea Center. A longstanding member of Hebron Baptist Church for over 25 years. Edna served faithfully as sexton, held previous roles with the Young Women's Auxiliary, acted as the Busy Bee secretary, and was an active member of the Hebron Choir Ensemble. Her commitment to community service extended beyond the church; she was also a lifetime member of Ladies Auxiliary 5932 of Clinton, where she served as acting secretary, as well as a Gold Circle Member of the VFW Auxiliary. Edna achieved certification as a UNCF Member and was a Certified Notary Public.

Edna is survived by her daughters, Alfreda Reed-Lindsay (Daniel) and Rakelle McIntyre (Richard); her grandchildren, Raven Logan, Kendall Reed, Daniel Lindsay, Jakari McIntyre, Daveon McIntyre, Keymirah McIntyre and Sh’niyah McIntyre; her great-grandchildren, Dylan Mary-Jean Logan, Sevyn JB Logan and Kentrell Jabari Reed; her siblings, Jaquette Moses, Rev. Anita Williams, James (Mamie) Williams, and Wanda Delaine; and her devoted cousin, James Wilson. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Joyce Williams Franklin and Carolyn Simpson.

A Private family graveside will be held, Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Orchard Park Memorial Gardens. 

The family will be at the home from 1-6 PM through Friday, 175 Coleman Road, Clinton, SC 29325.

Gray Funeral Home of Clinton is assisting the Reed family with services.
