Ed (Sarge) Whitt, age 76 of 202 Marion St. Ext. died Monday, Jan. 30th at the Hospice House of the Piedmont in Greenwood.
He was born in Pelzer, SC and was a son of the late Ali Alvin Whitt and Lessie Smith Whitt Davis.
Mr. Whitt retired as a Gunnery Sergeant from the United States Marine Corp with 21 years of service and was a veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam War. Following his career with the Marine Corp he was employed with Barcraft Homes in Laurens and later with Aaron Industries Inc.. Mr. Whitt attended the First Pentecostal Holiness Church and was an avid gardener and loved raising vegetables.
Surviving are his brothers and sisters, Walter L. Whitt of Hemet, CA, Brenda D. (Kitty) Pate of Clinton, Linda Faye D. Brewer of Clinton and Teddy J. Davis of Clinton.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Feb.2nd at 2:00 p.m. in the First Pentecostal Holiness Church with burial in Pelzer, SC in the Pine Lawn Cemetery with full military honors.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. before the service at the church.
The family will be at the home of John and Kitty Pate, 4210 Hurricane Church Rd., Clinton, SC.
