Edward Mcswain "Mac" English

Edward McSwain “Mac” English, age 89, husband of Barbara Hunnicutt English, passed away, Friday, July 14, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.
Mac was born on March 22, 1934 in Union, South Carolina and was the son of the late Robert D. and Ida Mae Trammell English. He was retired from Monsanto and was a US Army Veteran stationed in Germany. Also a member of the Mason’s Roseboro Lodge. Mac was baptized at Friendship Baptist Church and attended God’s Healing Springs. He was the founder of the Whitmire Squirrel Hunters Association. Mac loved life and enjoyed every day. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. Mac was chosen in 1953 by The Yankee’s Baseball Organization as a catcher. He produced hunting videos and was recognized for his achievements in Field & Stream Magazine. He loved his family and was extremely proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with his faithful wife Barbara of 58 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Mark English and Chad English (Brantlee) of Whitmire; his sister, Nancy English Brock of Whitmire; his grandchildren, Derrick English (René), Faith English, Colby English, Alana English Boyter (Bradly), Chase English, Cason English; and his six great-grandchildren.
Mac was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, David English, Kenneth English, Tony English, Terry English, Kate Arrowood, Ruth Sheilds and Louise Blackwell.
The family will greet friends on Sunday, July 16, 2023 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Friendship Baptist Church, 73 Leaman Avenue, Whitmire, SC 29178. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023 at Friendship Baptist Church at 4:00 PM with Rev. Paul Rowe, Rev. Wayne Tobais, Rev. John North and Rev. Ed Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at The English Family Cemetery with Military Honors.
