Elaine Suber Lemmon age 88 of Whitmire, died Saturday, September 13, 2008.
Born on May 4, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth M. and Otis P. Suber. She graduated from Whitmire High School at the age of 16 and then graduated from Queens College in Charlotte, NC. In June 1940, she married Robert H. Lemmon, Jr. and was widowed in December, 1984. She retired from Park Street Elementary School after many years of teaching the second grade. Her greatest loves were her family, her church, her friends, and her hometown of Whitmire.
She is survived by her two daughters, Peggy Garner (Greene) and Elizabeth Slaughter (Michael); three grandchildren, Kermit Littlefield (Shamala), Jase Slaughter, and Katelyn Slaughter; and two great grandchildren, Robert Littlefield and Mills Littlefield.
Graveside services will be held at the Whitmire Cemetery Wednesday, September 17th at 11:00 a.m.
The family will receive friends at Gray Funeral Home in Whitmire Tuesday, September 16th from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Whitmire Presbyterian Church or the Whitmire Rescue Squad.
