Elizabeth Pruitt Meggs, age 90, of The Heritage at Lowman and widow of Wallace N. Meggs, died Wednesday, March 30, 2011 in White Rock, SC.
Mrs. Meggs was born in Whitmire and was the daughter of the late Samuel Baxter and Mary Inez Mahaffey Pruitt.
She was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church in Florence, SC where she taught Sunday School, and participated in the Seniors group. She was also an active member of the Florentine League.
Mrs. Meggs and her husband were widely traveled through out the United States and abroad and she was a very accomplished in all forms of needle work, most of which was lovingly made for her family. She was the heart of her family.
Mrs. Meggs was predeceased by a son, Phillip Baxter Meggs, a grandson, Timothy Brandon Lever and 12 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her children, William Joel Meggs, M.D. and wife, Susan of Greenville, NC, a daughter, Elizabeth Meggs Lever and husband, David of Lexington, SC, Walace N. Meggs, Jr., and wife, Judy of Laurens, SC; Daughter-in-law, Libby Phillips Meggs of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, James Lever, Jason Meggs, Andrew Meggs, Elizabeth Meggs, Jennifer Elrod, Benjamin Meggs, Julianne Stokes, Abigail McGill, Adrienne Sorenson, Thomas Meggs, Catherine Hinesley; great grandchildren, Hannah Elrod, Tripp Sorenson, Heather Lever, Preston Stokes and David Elrod.
Graveside services will be conducted Friday, April 1st at 1:30 p.m. at Westview Memorial Park followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church.
The family will receive friends Friday immediately following the memorial service at the church.
The family would like to express appreciation to the staff of the healthcare center at The Heritage at Lowman and the staff of Lutheran Hospice of South Carolina for their loving care and support of their mother and her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 400 W. Main St., Laurens, SC 29360.
