Elizabeth Reid Austin, age 91, of 801 Musgrove Street, died Wednesday, May 3rd at the Presbyterian Home.
She was born in Vina, Alabama and was the daughter of the late Emmett Lee and Mary Winona Ray Reid. She was a former member of First Presbyterian Church in Greenville, South Carolina.
She was an accomplished artist and craftsman, as well as an avid gardener and horticulturalist. She was a member of the Greenville Garden Club and also was a Master Gardener. She received a degree from the O’Hara School of Oriental Design.
Her life long hobby was family history and genealogy. She authored three genealogy books. She was also passionate about nature, birds and wild flowers.
She is survived by her husband, James H. Austin Sr. of the home; one sister, Mary Coen of Charleston; and seven nephews and three nieces.
She was predeceased by a son, James H. Austin Jr. ; and two brothers, Emmet Lee Reid and Ray Reid.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday at the Presbyterian Home Chapel in Clinton.
Graveside services will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the Greenville Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Donalds.
