Ellic William Prince

Ellic William Prince, of Whitmire, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 27, 2025.

He was born on August 28, 1937 to the late Alex Brockman Prince and Annie Blanchard Prince.

In his early life he joined the US Air Force serving as a jet mechanic. Upon finishing his service, he hitchhiked back and forth to Los Angeles, CA to pursue a professional boxing career. As an amateur, he claimed the Golden Glove title with a perfect record. After marrying the love of his life, Pauline, and welcoming five children, he decided to settle back in SC. He took up welding and quickly excelled in the trade. One of his personal proudest moments was when Flour Daniels wrote a news article spotlighting his career. He later went on to supervisor in the construction of Subertown Apartments and then started his own construction and land clearing business. In his "spare" time he was a farmer raising cattle and loved working with heavy equipment. He always had his hands in something, digging graves, driving charter buses, getting his pilot license in his mid 60's and then running for County Council at the ripe age of 71. His greatest accomplishment was nothing he done, but what God had done for him when he asked Him into his heart in 1979. He never left home that he didn’t carry his bible and never started or ended his day without kneeling by his bedside talking to the Lord. He was of the Baptist faith and worshiped with his church family at Pine Ridge Baptist Church before entering the nursing home.

Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Pauline Morgan Prince; his brother James "Gene" Prince; his oldest son Ellic Eugene Prince; his oldest daughter Patsy Seymore; and son-in-law Buck Broome.

He is survived by his son Jody Prince; daughters Kathy Felker (Robbie) and Gwen Holbrook; son-in-law Billy Seymore; grandchildren Crystal Alexander (Nathan) Jonathon Prince, Savannah Beddingfield (Matthew), William Holbrook, and Zane Holbrook (Bethany); and great-grandchildren Wyatt, Riley, Selia, Morgan, Raylan, Isaac, and Jordy.

The family would like to thank the staff at NHC Clinton for their love, care, and support over the past 2 1/2 years. Reba, Lisa, Topeka, Georgia and Betty will forever hold a special place in their hearts.

Graveside services will be Sunday, March 2, 2025 at 4 o'clock in the afternoon at the Whitmire Cemetery. Gray Funeral Home has been entrusted with serving the family.
