Elsie J. Morton

Elsie J. Morton of Clinton, SC passed away Thursday, June 08, 2017. She was born on October 25, 1922 in St. Petersburg, FL and was the daughter of the late Hubert F. Johnson and Margaret Finney Johnson.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Pep Club and Sun Bonnet Garden Club and served as a Scouts Den Mother.
She is predeceased by her brothers, Charles Johnson and Alfred Johnson; sisters, Nancy Elizabeth Brogdon and Sara Jane Alston; and brother-in-law, Samuel B. Alston of Bennettsville, SC.
Surviving is her son, Calvin Thomas Morton, Jr. of Panama City, Panama; her dear sister-in-law, Jo Ellen Johnson of Clinton, SC; two grandsons, Jeff Morton (wife, Kelly) of Sugar Hill, GA and Andrew Morton of San Diego, CA as well as six great-grandchildren, James, Michaella, Trinity, Isabella, Savannah and Griffin Morton and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her brothers, Charles H. Johnson, W. Alfred Johnson, and brothers-in-laws, James E. Brogden, Benjamin F. Alston of Bennettsville, SC
Mrs. Morton attended Winthrop College and worked 22 years at Industrial Supply Company as well as 17.5 years at Presbyterian Home where she retired.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 16, 2017 at 11 AM at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Clinton. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 AM at the Gray Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Rosemont Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Laurens Memorial Home for the Aged, 3744 Torrington Road, Laurens, South Carolina 29360.
