Era Lowell Thompson, Jr., age 82, of 327 Brandwood Lane, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at his home.
He was born in Travelers Rest and was a son of the late Era Lowell Thompson, Sr., and Flora V. Aldridge.
Mr. Thompson was an active member of Redemption Baptist Church; was a textile worker for 51 years and worked for nine years in the Missionary Field out of Bryson City, North Carolina.
He is survived by his wife, Shelba Jean Thompson, of the home; three sons, Ray (Tammy) Thompson, of China, Benny Thompson, of Spartanburg, and John (Jean) Thompson, of Laurens; a daughter, Ginger Thompson of Gray Court and four step-children, Tammie Finley, of Laurens, Frank (Marla) Griffin, of Florida, Ken (Sissy) Griffin, of Woodruff, and Tim (Caroline) Griffin, of Gray Court; a daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James Dixon, of Tennessee; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
He was predeceased by a son, Frank Lowell Thompson.
Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday at 3:00 p.m. in the Redemption Baptist Church in Enoree with interment at the Rosemont Cemetery in Clinton.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the church.
The family will be at the home of Tammie Finley 637 Ranch Road, Laurens
