Erskine “Ert” Adair Jacks Sr., age 84, of A.B. Jacks Road, Clinton S.C., passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at home on April 23, 2014.
He was born August 25, 1929, in Clinton and was a son of the late A.B. Jacks Sr. and the late Lois (Polly) Adair Jacks.
Mr. Jacks was owner of Quality Parts & Service, and prior to that he had a career in the dairy industry as well as working at the Torrington Company. He served his community on the Laurens County Water & Sewer Commission Board of Commissioners. He was a lifelong member of Leesville Southern Methodist Church, where he served on the Board of Stewards and the Board of Trustees for many years. He also served as President of the Clinton Lion’s Club where he was active for many years. Mr. Jacks proudly served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, golfing, and traveling. Most of all Ert enjoyed being with family and especially anything involving his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Eugenia Neighbors Jacks of the home; a daughter Nancy Lee Jacks Montgomery and husband George of Prosperity; a son Erskine A. Jacks, Jr. and wife Karen of Clinton; a daughter Lora Jacks Foster and her husband David of White Stone; a son Albert B. Jacks and wife Angelia of Union. Grandchildren Erskine “Trey” A Jacks, III and his wife Melanie, Ross and Sarah Jacks, A.B., Isaac and Calleigh Jacks. Two sisters, Almeda J. Rogers and Madge Robbins Waldrep, all of Clinton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Jacks was preceded in death by brothers A.B. Jacks, Jr. and James R. Jacks, Sr.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Friday, April 25, at Leesville Southern Methodist Church in Clinton, with burial in the church cemetery. The family will be at the residence.
