Eugene Wilbanks, age 81 of 1427 Coleman Ave, died Saturday, October 18, 2008 in the White Oak Manor in Newberry.
He was born in Clinton, SC and was a son of the late Austell and Roxie Holden Wilbanks.
Mr. Wilbanks was a retired employee of J. P. Stevens, Whitmire Plant, a member of the Whitmire United Methodist Church, the American Legion and an U.S. Army veteran of WWII.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Don Taylor of Greensboro, NC, Frances and Ezell Hancock of Newberry and Myra and Fred Harmon of Newberry; Robert Jones, like the son he never had of Simpsonville; one sister, Ruby King of Goose Creek; five grandchildren, Donna Taylor Shelton, Richard Hancock, Gail Hancock Sligh, Eric Harmon, Connie Harmon Johnson; seven great grandchildren, Amber Hancock, Christian Hancock, Elizabeth Sligh, Colin Shelton, Drake Hamby, Gabriel Harmon and Danielle Harmon.
Mr. Wilbanks was preceded in death by his wife, Hazeline Elsmore Wilbanks, one brother, Frank Wilbanks and four sisters, Lib Burgess, Effie Wilbanks, Annie Seymore, Bobbie Howell.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Oct. 21st at 3:00 p.m. in the Gray Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Whitmire Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family will be at the home of his daughter, Myra Harmon at 957 Lindsay Circle in Newberry.
