Evelyn Lanford McCrary, age 85, daughter of the late Guy Ravanel and Bessie Satterfield Lanford was called to heaven, Wednesday, November 18, 2009.
She was born and raised in Spartanburg but had lived in Clinton for many years. She was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and Spartanburg Methodist College, formerly Spartanburg Junior College. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Clinton, SC and the Workman Sunday School Class. She was formerly employed at Whitten Center in the business manager and treasurer’s office and retired from the Social Security Administration in 1986 after 21 years of service.
Our beloved mother and grandmother is survived by a daughter, Marsha Smith of Clinton; a son and his wife, Clyde H. McCrary III and Kathy S. McCrary of Spartanburg; four grandchildren, Christopher Smith of Clinton, Brooke Reed of Columbia, Megan and Jennifer McCrary of Spartanburg and four great-grandchildren, Ashley and Amber McCrary, Hayden Reed and Ariel Smith.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Paul and Guy R. Lanford and a grandson, Bobby McCrary.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in Gray Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday at Gray Funeral Home. The family will be at their respective homes.
