Everlena Whelchel Frazier, age 98, the widow of R H Frazier and longtime resident of Joanna, passed away Friday, January 11, 2019 at National Health Care of Clinton.
She was born in Gaffney, SC and was a daughter of the late Benson D. and Everlena Garner Whelchel. She retired from the Clinton Mills, Lydia Plant and was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church.
She had many loves during her long life. Family always came first. Her Mother, Daddy, brothers, sisters and husband were loved, but Tommy, Lunette and Barbara were her three "Forever Loves", Even nieces and nephews called her their "second Mama". Her Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren were truly blessed to have experienced her deep love for them as well.
Sewing, cooking and crocheting skills were mastered early in life due to her strong determination and hard work. She loved doing those things for others. Because of her humble personality and quiet, sincere love for everyone she met, she was loved by all. She always had a ready hug and an "I love you" for family, friends, and everyone she came in contact with at NHC. The family truly appreciates the loving care she received from the NHC and Caris staff.
Surviving are her son, Tommy Frazier and wife, Reithie of Paris, TX; her two daughters, Lunette Smaltz Livingston of Joanna, Barbara Baker and husband, Bill of Fountain Inn; one sister, Nellie Hughes of Laurens; her six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by five brothers and five sisters.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Clinton with burial at Pinelawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Activities Department of NHC c/o National Health Care of Clinton, 304 Jacobs Highway, Clinton, SC 29325.
