Frances Core Arscott, age 90, of Covenant Place, Sumter died on February 26, 2025. She formerly lived in Clinton, SC.
She was born in Brampton, Ontario, Canada on September 10, 1934. Fran was the daughter of Charles Carman Core and Maisie Ferrier Core. She is survived by her children, Jeffrey Charles Arscott (Teresa), David Mason Arscott (Teresa), Stephen Fletcher Arscott (Melissa), and Martha Elizabeth Arscott Ledda (Sonny), her eight grandchildren: Jeffrey Talley, Mary Kennon Miles (John Eagle), Fletcher Arscott, Hagan Ledda (Laurel), Michael Arscott, Emily Ledda, Elliott Arscott, and Grayson Arscott. Additionally, she is survived by her brothers, William C Core (Lorna), and D. Carman Core (Lynn) and a host of nieces and nephews.
Fran was a nurse by trade, graduating in 1955 from Hamilton Nursing School. Upon moving to Clinton, South Carolina in-1965, she worked numerous jobs in the Laurens County area ... first at Bailey Memorial Hospital in Clinton and then the Laurens County Hospital. She worked as a labor & delivery nurse, shift supervisor, and ultimately as the Director of Nursing for Laurens County Hospital. She was passionate about the role of the nurse and the power of healing. She worked in the nursing profession for 50 plus years in various roles and loved them all.
She was a founding member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Clinton, SC and was an adopted member of Holy Comforter, Anglican in Sumter, SC while a resident at Covenant Place. Fran had a deep and abiding love for her lord & savior, Jesus Christ, as evidenced by her tattered and worn Bible which contained numerous passages underscored and highlighted. Her secret to longevity and ultimately her joy was found in the Lord, and him alone!
The family wishes to thank the members of Westminster who reached out often to her, the wonderful caregivers from Holy Comforter who visited, prayed, and loved her, and the phenomenal staff of Assisted Living, Memory Care at Covenant Place who have loved & doted on her so beautifully since her move there in August 2022. They affectionately referred to her as "sassy pants" .... a perfect description. We are deeply grateful!!

Services will be livestreamed by Westminster Presbyterian Church and will be available online at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5WRNUNAgoNMyZUO9QAbm1A/live.
