Frances Juanita “Nita” Price Hitt, age 93 of 116 W. Centennial St. and widow of Ernest P. Hitt died Wednesday, August 24, 2011.
She was born in Newberry County and grew up in the King’s Creek Community. She was a daughter of the late Claude Crosson and Maybelle Rikard Price.
Mrs. Hitt had been an employee of Hallmark Manufacturing for over 25 years before it’s closing, and after the death of her husband was employed as a Cottage Parent at Whitten Center where she retired. She was a member of the Providence A.R.P. Church where she was a former Sabbath School Teacher and an active member of the Women of the Church. Mrs. Hitt always enjoyed her time outdoors gardening in her yard.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. David P. (Gwen) Cook of Clinton; one brother, Rion C. Price and wife, Lillian, of Newberry; three grandchildren, Mrs. Kim (Jim) Pitts, Phillip Cook and Dr. Lynn (Mrs. Jeff) Wilkie all of Clinton and four great grandchildren, Rebekah Pitts, David, Madelyn and Catherine Wilkie.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Aug. 27th at 4:00 p.m. in the Providence A.R.P. Church by Rev. Dr. Tom Sherer with burial in the Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening at the funeral home from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
