Dateline-Laurens
Frances Power Drummond, age 87 and widow of B. R. Drummond, died February 4, 2009 at home. She was the daughter of the late Charlie B. and Gussie Owens Power of Laurens County.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James Edward and Robbie P. Drummond of Flowery Branch, GA; one granddaughter, Caitlin Nicole Drummond and one grandson, Daniel Alan Drummond; two sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Theo of Woodruff and Pauline “Polly” Simmons of Columbia; two brothers, Wm. Harold Power and sister-in-law, Betty Templeton Power of Clinton, James W. Power and sister-in-law Edna C. Power of Laurens. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law in Alabama, Joyce Lollar and Ellon Drummond both of Leeds and Dean D. Donnahoo of Birmingham.
She was predeceased by a sister, Christine “Chris” Oakley of Clinton.
She was a member of Lucas Avenue Baptist Church; a member of Sunday school, for many years serving as teacher in Adult Department (Lydia class).
She was a member of ADY, also was a member of Wattsville Mothers Club serving as devotional leader. She and her family lived in Birmingham, AL for almost 20 years; during that time they were all members of Woodlawn Baptist Church for about 12 years and she served in pre-school department and later was teacher in young married department. After moving to the eastern side of Birmingham, they joined Hoffman Baptist Church and she again became a teacher in adult department. Then in 1975, they returned to Laurens and joined Lucas Avenue Baptist Church where her love of teaching continued until God called her home.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Feb. 6th at 3:30 p.m. in Lucas Avenue Baptist Church with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday before the service from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Church.
