Fred Earl Cogsdill

August 6, 1941 — February 22, 2024

Fred Earl Cogsdill, age 82, of Laurens, SC widow of Edith Hellams Cogsdill, his loving wife, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024, at NHC of Clinton, surrounded by family.
He was born August 6, 1941 in Laurens, SC and was a son of the late Euitt William and Gladys
Thompson Cogsdill. Fred was the owner of the Laurens Speedway since 1977. He was also the operator of the North Harper Exxon from 1974 to 1990. He was a member of Welcome Baptist Church and also attended Eastside Baptist Church.
He is survived by his only son, Michael W. Cogsdill; his twin grandsons, Camden and Camron Cogsdill; his granddaughter, Arrionna Cogsdill; his brothers, Wayne Cogsdill and Charles Cogsdill (Gayle), all of Laurens and sister, Kay Miller, of Waterloo; a brother-in-law, Tommy Hellams (Lynne) of Waterloo; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister Wydette Barker.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 2 P.M. at Forest Lawn Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. J.D. Putnam of Eastside Baptist Church officiating.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Gray Funeral Home of Laurens, 500 West Main Street, Laurens, SC.
