Fred Harrison Hayes, age 87 of 525 Whitmire Hwy. and widower of Frances Cornelia Jennings Hayes died Sunday, July 29th, 2012 at the Hospice of Laurens County Hospice House.
He was born in Hartwell, GA and was a son of the late Drew and Susie Jane Clark Hayes.
Mr. Hayes was a former employee of Joanna Mills working as a fixer. He was the owner and operator of Hayes Garage and Wrecker Service and Mobile Home Moving. He attended Breakthrough Tabernacle Church, was a former Fire Chief of the Joanna Fire Department, a life member of the Magnolia Masonic Lodge and member of the Hejaz Shrine Temple.
Surviving are his son, Fred L. Hayes and wife, Sandra of Joanna; one daughter, Nancy H. Frady and husband, Harry of Saluda; two sisters, Martha Huckabee of Laurens and Frances McAlister of Clinton; grandchildren, Lisa Frady-Davis and husband, Jon, Gail Revis and husband, Michael, Alice James and husband, Chris, Georgia Felker and husband, Daniel, Tonya Hayes-Jolly and husband, Jason; great grandchildren, Andrew Felker, Harry Davis, Peyton Felker, Caleb Jolly, Maggie Davis, Logan James, Miley Jolly, Jacob James and “Baby Felker” due in December.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 31st at 6:00 p.m. in the Breakthrough Tabernacle Church in Joanna with burial in Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
