Gary Leon Lewis, age 72, of 750 Forest Road, passed away at his home Thursday, January 19, 2017.
He was born in Key West, FL and was a son of the late Leo and Grace Wilson Lewis. He is retired from Inergsoll Rand after 38 years of service, he was a Sunday school teacher and Chairman of Deacons at Holly Grove Baptist Church as well as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother who loved his family dearly. More than that, he was a humble and devout servant and man of God who was inspirational to many throughout his life.
Mr. Lewis is survived by his best friend and wife of 51 years, Kay Lewis of the home; his daughter, Teresa Vaughan (Bluford) of Clinton; his two grandchildren, Sela and Seth Vaughan; his brother, DV Lewis (Nancy); his sister, Betty Taylor; two brother-in-law’s, Buddy Hinson (Joy) and LC Bond; three sister-in-law’s, Brenda Lilley (Fleet), Marie Ellis (Tony), and Cathy Lewis; his many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his brother, Leon Lewis, his sister, Mary Prather, his mother-in-law, Frances Hinson, his sister-in-law, Shirley Bond, and his brother-in-law, Walt Taylor.
A Cryptside service will be held Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 3 p.m. at the Pinelawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum, the family will receive friends immediately following the service.
