George "Joe" L. Griffin, Sr.

George “Joe” L. Griffin, Sr. age 79 of 100 Sloop Dr., passed away Thursday, April 14th 2016 at the Greenville Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Abbeville County and was a son of the late Tullie Eugene Griffin, Sr. and the late Pearl Gregory Griffin.
Mr. Griffin was a retired carpenter and a member of the New Horizon Freewill Baptist Church. He loved fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons, Joey Griffin (Denna) of Clinton, Roger Griffin of Laurens; two daughters, Tina Marino of Simpsonville, Faye Paxton (Sheffey) of Laurens; three sisters, Barbara Templeton of Fountain Inn, Peggy Satterwhite of Hickory Tavern, Pearl Humbert of Greenwood; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 21st at 4:00 p.m. at the New Horizon Freewill Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the church before the memorial service.
The family will be at the home of his daughter, Faye Paxton, 640 Frontier Dr. Laurens, SC 29360.
