George Tedford "Ted" Ward Sr.

George Tedford "Ted" Ward, Sr., 92, of Clinton, SC, widower of Mary Ellen Cannon Ward, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at NHC of Clinton.
Born September 17, 1931 in Newberry County, SC, he was a son of the late Daniel Peter Ward and Willie Mae Caughman Riley. Mr. Ward was a Veteran of the US Air Force and retired from the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice through the Family Court system. He served as a Probation Officer, a law enforcement officer with the City of Clinton, and as a Sheriff Deputy at the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office.
Mr. Ward was a member of the Gideon’s, a Mason, and enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a true servant to his Lord and Savior.
He is survived by his son, George Tedford Ward, Jr. (Janice) of Clinton; his daughters, Deminia Huff of Simpsonville, and Georgia Alexander (Mike) of Mountville; brothers, Jim Ward, and Mickey Ward; one sister, Joy Cross; his grandchildren, Erin Pitts (Adam), Amelia Huff (Robert Benthal), Nikki Ward, Matthew Ward (Julie), Cole Alexander (Katie), and Abbie Turner (Devon); and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Grayson Ward.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Friday, October 6, 2023 at the Rosemont Cemetery with Rev. Rob Hudson officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the graveside service.
The family will be at the home of his son, 384 Compton Road, Clinton, SC 29325.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 702 N Sloan St, Clinton, SC 29325.

Gray Funeral Home of Clinton is assisting the Ward family with arrangements.
