Georgia Coker Hughes (Tooney), age 42, of 4706 N. Old Laurens Rd. died Thursday, February 23rd in Laurens.
She was born in Laurens County and was the daughter of Earl R. Coker of Gray Court and the late Joan Lyles Coker.
Mrs. Hughes was a former employee of Carolina Sorting Co., had attended Faith Christian School and Laurens District 55 High School and was also a member of Faith Baptist Church.
Georgia was a beautiful person inside and outside. She had a very outgoing personality and always had a smile and a laugh for everyone and enjoyed life very much. She loved to write poetry and short stories and loved all kinds of music and was very proud of her children with their music and activities. Her family and friends loved her very much and she will be missed forever.
She is survived by a son, Adam Hughes of Laurens; a daughter, Sarah Jessica Hughes of Laurens; father, Earl R. Coker of Gray Court; four sisters, Debbie Abercrombie and Kenny of Laurens, Rita Tumblin and Neal of Hickory Tavern, Wanda Waldrop and Toby of Laurens and Vickie Bramlett and Mike of Laurens; a brother, Perry Coker and Sissy of Gray Court; a special friend, William ( Bill) Patterson of Laurens; nieces, Angie T. Crisp, Christie Weathers and Jonie Coker; nephews, Ray Tumblin, Josh Tumblin and Jamie Coker.
She was predeceased by her mother, Joan Lyles Coker; nephew, Wayne Walker, Jr. and grandparents, Boyce and Iva Lyles of Laurens and Earnest and Beatrice Coker of Waterloo.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel with interment in the Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family will be at the home of her father, Earl R. Coker, 206 Bull Hill Road, Gray Court.
