Grace D. Nichols, age 90, widow of Lloyd Joel Nichols, of 3441 Mountville Road died Monday, August 14, 2006 in the Hospice Care of the Piedmont in Greenwood.
She was born in Summerville, New Jersey and was the daughter of the late Harry and Margaret Doyle.
Mrs. Nichols was a former employee of Cortland Corset and was an elementary school teacher in Fort Meyers, Florida. She was a member of the State Grange for 66 years and was also a member of Mountville Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Margaret and husband Harold J. Preston Sr. of Clinton; one brother, Harry Doyle of Smoaks; four grandchildren, Grace Eugenia and husband Scott Warren, Brent Lester Preston, Brenda Preston and husband George Alvin Gantt, Sr. , and Harold John Jr. and wife Toni C. Preston; twelve great-grandchildren; and sixteen great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by three sons, Joel Nichols, Charles Nichols and Bruce Nichols.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Mountville Baptist Church with burial in the Mountville Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gray Funeral Home.
The family will be at the home of a granddaughter, Brenda Gantt at 3319 Mountville Road in Mountville.
