Grace Winebrenner Watts
Grace Winebrenner Watts, 97, a lifelong resident of Mountville, SC, died peacefully at Presbyterian Home, Clinton, SC on September 5, 2010. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Blaise Pascal Watts, her parents, James Scott Winebrenner and Grace Cook Winebrenner, her siblings, Mercy Winebrenner Ferguson, Mary Jean Winebrenner Shealy, and James Scott Winebrenner, Jr., her youngest daughter, Julia Watts McGinn, and grandson, Douglas Watts. She is survived by her children: Grace Jane Watts Chance, Robert Pascal Watts, Gene Scott Watts, and Frances (Betty) Watts Orvin, 13 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.
Grace was a 1934 graduate of the University of South Carolina, a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority, a social worker, school teacher and Postmaster for Mountville, SC. She was first and foremost, an outstanding matriarch who treasured her children and grandchildren above all earthly possessions. Her extended family and her community was always a blessing to her. She resided at Bailey Manor, Clinton, SC for 14 years and that family became hers as well.
She leaves behind a rich legacy of tradition, love, loyalty, devotion and duty. Those who loved her are thankful for her long, healthy life and will never forget her love, sense of humor, and delightful stories of local and family history. We were blessed to have Grace Winebrenner Watts as a part of our lives.
Memorial Service will be held at Mountville Presbyterian Church, Hwy. 72, Mountville, SC 29370 on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends immediately after the service.
