Groce (Pete) Godfrey, Jr., age 69, of 106 Gordon Street, passed away Friday, May 16, 2014 at the Self Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Laurens County and was a son of the late Groce A. Godfrey, Sr. and the late Narvis Fulmer Godfrey.
Mr. Godfrey was retired from Wal-Mart Distribution Center and was a former employee of Kaywood in Joanna. He was a member of the Lydia Church of God and was a US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife Teresa Heaton Godfrey of the home; his daughters Donna Hyman of Clinton and Alicia Whitmire of the home; and his sisters Betty Godfrey Hostetler of Clinton, Jeanette G. Stone of Clinton, and Patricia G. Rivers of NC.
He was predeceased by his sister Vivian G. Messick.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 20th at 3:00 p.m. at the Lydia Church of God with burial in Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends before the service from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church.
