Groce A Godfrey, Sr. age 87 of 706 Billy Leopard Rd. died Saturday, June 10th at his home.
He was born in Spartanburg County and was a son of the late Walter P. and Mary Knight Godfrey.
Mr. Godfrey was retired from the Laurens Glass Plant and was a member of the Lydia Church of God. He had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed farming.
He is survived by one son, Groce A. (Pete) Godfrey, Jr. of Cross Hill; three daughters, Betty G. Hostetler of Cross Hill, Jeanette G. Stone of Clinton, Patricia G. Rivers of Seagrove, NC; twelve grandchildren; twenty seven great grandchildren and nineteen great great grandchildren.
Mr. Godfrey was predeceased by his wife, Narvis F. Godfrey and a daughter, Vivian G. Austin.
Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, June 13th at 2:00 p.m. in the Lydia Church of God with burial in the Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
The body will be taken to the home of his daughter, Jeanette Stone, 503 Bar B Villa, Clinton, SC, Monday morning where the family will receive friends.
