Harold Grant Bittinger, Sr. age 93, of Langston Place, passed away Monday, February 8, 2016.
He was born in Frostburg, MD on November 20, 1922, and was a son of the late Raymond R. Bittinger and Margaret (Harvey) Bittinger.
Mr. Bittinger graduated from Beall High School, Frostburg, MD, received his Bachelor’s Degree from Bowling Green University, Bowling Green, KY and later received his Master’s Degree from University of South Carolina. Harold was employed by the Celanese Fibers Marketing Company for 23 years, ending his career as Controller. He was a CPA and following his retirement from Celanese, he became a Professor in Business and Economics at Erskine College. He was a WWII Army veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Guthrie of Clinton; his sons, Harold Grant Bittinger, II (Carla) of New Mexico and Frank Dirk Bittinger of FL; his step-daughter, Patti Miller (Bill) of Sedona, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by wives: Ethel Dorothy Lewis and Janice W. Polsgraaf and step children Wileen Jacobson and William Jacobson.
A military service will be held at a later date in Flintstone, Maryland at the Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery.
