Harold “Glenn” Blocker, widower of Theresa Blocker passed away peacefully at the age of 97 on March 7, 2024, in Buford, GA.
Glenn was born in Tampa, FL on April 11, 1926 and was the son of the late Jackson Redbrook and Ruth Cecil Blocker.
He served his country proudly in the Navy during WWII. He later received his mechanical engineering degree from Georgia Tech (1954), the Jefferson Award for Outstanding Public Service in 2003 and the 3M Volunteer Service award in 2004. Glenn was a Registered Boy Scout for 51 years and Scout Master for 25 years, The Joe Adair Environmental Center named the Bush River Wetlands lab “The Glenn Blocker Lab” in 2014, which he helped establish. He also volunteered for First United Methodist Salkehatchie Summer Service Camp for over 20 years. Aided the Laurens County SAFE Homes for Women & Children for 17 years, built 4 Habitat for Humanity homes, participated in many foreign mission trips including, Zimbabwe, Mexico, Bahamas, Alaska, and to many states in the US. He volunteered in early response missions after Hurricane Hugo & Hurricane Michael and several more.
Glenn was a 6th generation Methodist and strongly believed and lived by the words of John Wesley “Do all the good you can, By all the means you can, In all the ways you can, In all the places you can, At all the times you can, To all the people you can, As long as ever you can.” Glenn gave every day and, in every way, to live a true life of service.
He is survived by his 2 daughters, Glenda Blocker and Elise Alvarez and his son, Carson (LouAnn) Blocker. He also leaves a legacy of love with his 6 grandchildren, Dianna (Brian) Lueke, Adam & Devon Alvarez, Annette (Jeff) Clayton, Lamar & Tony Bowers along with 16 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife of 63 years, Glenn was predeceased by his eldest son, Mark Blocker and sister, Patsy Morales.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted Thursday, April 11th, 2024 at 5PM at Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church, 1450 Pine Rd, Dacula, GA 30019.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, April 12th, 2024 at 11AM at Forest Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, 765 East Main St., Laurens, SC 29360, with Rev. Emil Finley officiating.

Gray Funeral Home of Laurens will be assisting the Blocker family with arrangements.
