Harold Adair Coleman, Jr., a beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on December 3, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on August 13, 1944, in Laurens, SC, Harold was the son of the late Harold Adair Coleman, Sr. and Emma Boyd Coleman.
Harold's life was marked by his dedication to service and community. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, embodying the values of honor and duty. After his military service, Harold worked at Torrington Bearing Company, where he retired not once, but twice, showcasing his unwavering commitment and work ethic.
Beyond his professional life, Harold found immense joy in giving back to his community. His volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity was a testament to his generous spirit and compassionate heart. Over the years, he helped build 17 homes, providing shelter and hope to many families in need. Most recently, he enjoyed volunteering at the Humane Society and serving at United Ministries.
Harold's legacy is also carried on by his loving family. He is survived by his loving wife, Drenda Hanley Coleman, his sister, Anna Coleman Robertson, and his sister-in-law, Judy Coleman. His memory will be cherished by his nieces and nephews, Glen Hollis (Lynn), Alicia Housman (Chris), Kelley Robertson, Craig Robertson, Anna Robertson Bahn (Clayton), and Adair Moore, as well as his great-nieces and nephews, Hayes and Andrew Hollis, Morgan Miller, Eilene and Ava Housman, Hudson and Campbell Bahn, and Merritt Moore. Harold's stepchildren, Scott Taylor (Raegan), Eric Taylor (Beth), and Reid Taylor (Laura), along with his step-grandchildren, Jordan Kennemore (Zach), Grayson Taylor, Mackenzie Taylor, Lexi Taylor, Jack Taylor, and Dylan Taylor, will forever hold him in their hearts.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James Coleman, as well as his devoted wife of nearly fifty years, Grace League Coleman.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Clinton, with Rev. Adair Dean Rogers officiating. Private burial will follow at Pinelawn Memory Gardens. The family will greet visitors prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.
Harold's life was a beacon of kindness, dedication, and love. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of service and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Laurens County Humane Society, United Ministries of Clinton, or Habitat for Humanity.
