Haskell Eugene “Hack” Wilbanks, 88, of 88 James St. went home to be with the Lord on August 16, 2013 at his residence.
Born in Whitmire, he was the husband of Ella Williamson Wilbanks and the son of the late James Wilbanks and Lillie Mae Hoard Wilbanks. He was retired from J.P. Stevens and Whitten Center. He was also a guard at Renfro. He was a member of the U.S. Marines, 5th division. He saw action on Iwo Jima. He was a member of the First Church of God.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years and the love of his life, Ella; three children and their spouses: Barbara Eubanks (Marion) of Glenn Springs, Judy Crain (Lewis) of Gray Court, and James (Cathy) Wilbanks of Whitmire; grandchildren: Lori Jolly (Ben) of Atlanta, Charley Eubanks (Lisa) of Gaffney, Lisa Pate (Russell) of Summerville, Curtis Castro of Anderson, Shayne Castro (Tonya) of Anderson, Brandi Wilbanks (Michael) of Whitmire, Josh Wilbanks (Becky) of Whitmire, Rachel Pennington of Gray Court, and Lewis Ford of Gray Court; ten great-grandchildren, Haile, Skylar, Richard, Robbie, Caden, Andrew, Shana, Savanna, Elizabeth, and Haylee; one great-great grandchild, Alana. Mr. Wilbanks was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl, Oliver, and Douglas Wilbanks and one sister, Betty Lou Vanderford. Special thanks to family friends Michael Thomas, Kim Willis, Michelle Baker, and Cathy Bremher.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 3:00 to 4:00 PM before the service at 4:00 PM at Gray Funeral Home in Whitmire. Interment will follow at Whitmire Cemetery. The family will be at the residence.
