Herbert Jacks Martin, age 82, husband of Sybil Kathleen Coats Martin, died Sunday
June 17, at the Laurens County Hospital.
He was born in Laurens County, and was the son of the late, Norwood Mansfield and
Rennie Jacks Martin.
Mr. Martin was a graduate of Laurens High School, class of 1942, and was retired from the J.P. Stevens, Watts Plant and was a member of Grace Covenant Presbyterian
Church, and was an active outdoors person, who loved hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sybil Kathleen Coats Martin of the home;
A daughter & son-in-law, Jane and Henry Robbs of Laurens; brother, Thjaddeus L. “Buddy” Martin of Greenville; two sisters, Frances M. Owens of Greenwood and
Mary Ann Martin of Gray Court; two grandchildren, Melanie& Jacob Robbs.
He was predeceased by three brothers, J.C., Tommy and Ellis Martin.
Mr. Martin also leaves his beloved dogs, Lady, Rip and Sam.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 19, 2007, in the Gray Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-2:45 on day of the service.
