Herman L. Shealy, Sr., age 94, of 1 Martha Franks Dr. in Laurens died Thursday, August 23, 2007 in the Laurens County Hospital.
He was born in Little Mountain and was a son of the late Irvin Luther and Elizabeth Elva Shealy.
Mr. Shealy was an educator for 41 years. He started his teaching career in Newberry, later becoming an administrator in Spartanburg, Union and Laurens Counties. Mr. Shealy was the oldest member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church where he taught Sunday School and served on the Church Council, he also was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Men in Mission. He was a former member of the Lions Clubs of Union and Joanna.
Surviving are two sons, Herman L. Shealy, Jr. and wife, Elizabeth of Cayce, Edwin I. Shealy and wife, Ruth of Clinton; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Mr. Shealy was predeceased by his wife, Edith Halfacre Shealy, four brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Aug. 25th at 10:30 a.m. at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Clinton with burial in the St. Philip’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Newberry.
The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
