Hethaleen (Het) Guin Malone died Wednesday, January 14th, at Hospice House in Greenwood. She was a resident of the Presbyterian Home in Clinton.
She was born on October 20, 1922, in Newberry and was the daughter of Lindsay Lee Guin and Mildred Davenport Guin. She was married for over 51 years to John Thomas Malone of Whitmire, who predeceased her in 1994. She is survived by two children—a son, The Rev. Dr. Tommie Guin Malone of Belton, South Carolina; a daughter, Ginger Malone Sauls; a son-in-law, the Rt. Rev. Stacy F. Sauls; two grandsons, Andrew Alverson Sauls and Matthew Malone Sauls, all of Lexington, Kentucky; a sister, Lula Guin Abney of Newberry; two nieces and a nephew. She was predeceased by a sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
She was a homemaker and worked in retail sales and child care.
Mrs. Malone had been a Presbyterian since her marriage and was a Sunday School teacher and active in Presbyterian Women. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Simpsonville.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 16th, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Simpsonville. The Service of Witness to the Resurrection, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Jim Caprell will follow at the church at 2:30 p.m.. Interment will be at the Whitmire Cemetery at 4:30 p.m. The family will be at the home of Tom Malone of 709 Brown Avenue in Belton. Gray Funeral Home of Clinton is in charge of all arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Simpsonville or to Thornwell Children’s Home in Clinton.
