Homer Derl Jacks, age 85, of 109 Reeder Street, passed away Friday, March 25, 2016 at the Laurens County Hospital.
Born in Joanna, he was a son of the late John Homer and Carrie Matthews Jacks.
Mr. Jacks was retired from Milliken, Gilliland Plant in Laurens. He was a US Navy Veteran and a member of Epworth UMC in Joanna. He was a lifetime member of the Moose Association and the Joanna Men’s Club.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Geraldine B. Jacks, of the home; his sons, Johnny Jacks (Jessie) of Joanna, Wayne Jacks of Anderson, and John Wayne Jacks of Chapin; his sister, Sheila Campbell (Keith) of Cario, GA; six grandchildren; two that live in the Joanna area, Bryan Jacks (Mari-Pat) and Stephanie Burton (Andy Heiney), and many great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents and his granddaughter, Jody Jacks.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 28th at 2 PM at Epworth UMC with burial in Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends before the service from 1 to 2 PM at the church.
