Howard E. Stroud age 84 of 91 Big Rock Road passed away Monday, Nov. 27, 2017 at his home.
He was born in Spartanburg County, SC and was a son of the late Burkie and Willamena Marler Stroud.
Mr. Stroud was retired from Clinton Mills, and was a member of the Second Baptist Church Laurens. He loved the game of baseball especially his days as a player in the Textile League and later coaching, he was also an avid golfer.
Surviving are his wife, Imogene “Jean” Stroud; a son, Chris Stroud (Leann); a daughter, Pam Gantt (Tommy); grandchildren Matthew Gantt (Janice), Justin Gantt (Helen); great grandchildren, Jessica Hodges, Jennifer Emery, Tyler Stroud; great-great grandson, Brayden Hodges; nephews, Darin and Kenneth Stroud; sister-in-law, Jeanette Stroud.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two brothers, Harold Stroud, Rueben Stroud and a nephew, Rusty Stroud.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Nov. 30th at 2:00 P.M. in the Second Baptist Church of Laurens by Rev. J.D. Shiflet with burial in Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the church on Thursday.
