Ida Mary Cliett Addison died Friday, March 22, 2013.
She was born and raised in Bowling Green, Florida, a small town in Central Florida.
Her parents were William Cliett and Ruth Cole Cliett, both descendants of the “pioneers” who settled interior Florida.
Ida Mary grew up with her two brothers, William Cole and James, and one sister, Loraine C. Young, of Ft. Meade, Florida, who survives her.
Ida Mary and John A. Addison, who passed away in 1984, were married in the small Methodist Church in Bowling Green, on July 22, 1934. Their daughter, Elaine was born in Bowling Green and they moved to South Carolina in 1940. Together, John and Ida Mary worked to make their small business a success and enjoyed their life together.
Ida Mary enjoyed reading, theatre, travel, and cooking for her family and friends. She served as groom at horse shows, canner in chief for John’s bountiful garden, and cheerleader for her husband and daughter’s fishing exploits.
At eighty years old, she landed on an Alaskan glacier in a helicopter and went to a picnic on an island in a sea plane.
She loved her nieces and nephews and their families and appreciated their visits and attention at NHC. She had wonderful friends that she treasured and who were loyal to the end.
An example set by her mother, Ida Mary was a faithful member of Broad St. Methodist Church and served faithfully as long as she was able.
The family wishes to express their appreciation for the staff of NHC of Clinton, for the love and care shown to Mrs. Addison.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 25th, at 11:00 a.m. at Broad St. United Methodist Church, with a private family burial at Rosemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour before the service, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
Memorials may be made to Broad St. United Methodist Church, 310 N. Broad Street, Clinton, SC 29325.
