Irene Dillard "Bebe" Mcsween

Irene Dillard “Bebe” McSween, 92, a resident of the Clinton Presbyterian Community, entered the Church Triumphant on December 15, 2009.

Born in Clinton, SC, she was a daughter of the late Larry Byrd Dillard and Wrenn Hafner Dillard. She is predeceased by her husband, Rev. Dr. Allen McSween and her sister, Mary Howze Forsyth.

Mrs. McSween was a graduate of Presbyterian College where she was a cheerleader and the first woman to graduate with a BS degree in chemistry. She was an avid sports fan who rarely missed a PC football game. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Clinton and the Actaeon Club of Clinton. She was devoted to her beloved husband Al, her four children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She will be long remembered for her beauty, her intellect, and her good-natured teasing.

Surviving are a sister, Emily L. Dillard of Clinton, and four children and their families: Allen C. McSween, Jr. and wife, Susan of Greenville, John D. McSween and wife, Sandy of Siler City, NC, Larry McSween and wife, Ginger of Mobile, AL, Kathy M. Ambrose and husband, Harry of Knoxville, TN, five grandchildren: Jessie and Christopher Parks, Jean and Michael McSween, and Mary McSween; two great-grandchildren: Emily Grace and Lauren Elizabeth McSween.

A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, Dec. 19th at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Clinton by Dr. Wain Wesberry, Dr. Joe Gettys and Dr. Allen McSween, Jr. The family will greet friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 29, Clinton, SC 29325, the Presbyterian Community of Clinton, 801 Musgrove St., 29325, or the Scotsman Club, Presbyterian College, 503 S. Broad St., Clinton, SC 29325.
