Jack Edward Finley
Jack was born in Greenville County on August 12, 1923. He lived at Whitten Center for the past 55 years where he was referred to by his friends as “The Mayor of Whitten Center.” Jack loved the outdoors and enjoyed driving his electric wheel chair over the campus. He also enjoyed listening to music, watching wrestling and visiting with family and friends. As a younger man, Jack wrote poetry and played in the hand bell choir.
He is survived by numerous cousins, including Margaret Buckhiester of Piedmont, Phil and Becky Buckhiester of Seneca, Amber and Larry Miller, Paige and Jim Pelletier, Jared Buckhiester, Isaac, Jack, Gabe and Aaron Pelletier and Tess and Sydney Miller and a large , loving “family” at Whitten Center.
He was predeceased by his parents, Charles Albert and Gaynelle Campbell Finley and a cousin, George Buckhiester.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in the Brooker-Blakely Memorial Chapel with interment at 5:00 p.m. in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Piedmont.
The family will receive friends before the service on Thursday from 1:30 to 2:30 at Brooker-Blakely Chapel.
