Jack M. Ammons, age 74, of Whitmire died Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Palmetto Health Heart Hospital in Columbia.
He was the son of the late Sam and Alice Ammons and was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Betty N. Ammons. Mr. Ammons retired as a supervisor at the Torrington Company in Clinton. He was a member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church and attended Friendship Baptist Church in Whitmire.
Survivors include his four daughters, Cheryl Kingsmore of Whitmire, Rebecca Trammell and husband, Ernest of Clinton, Janet Campbell of Greenville, and Rhonda Steele and husband, Randy of Morganton, N.C.; a son, Mark Ammons and wife, Robin of Union; twelve grandchildren, Alan Kingsmore, reared in the home, and his wife Zoila of Washington State, Meagan Trammell, Elliot Trammell, Brandi Harris and husband, Matthew, Trey Culbreath, Andy Culbreath, Julianna Culbreath, Jessica Ammons, Kevin Ammons, Stephen Ammons, Khrystian Ammons, and Aeriel Ammons; and two brothers, Harvey Ammons and Ray Ammons of Whitmire.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Katie Stone and Nellie Silvers.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, September 7th at 4:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church by Rev. Ray Belue, Rev. Kenny Weaver and Rev. Horace Weathers with burial at the Whitmire Cemetery.
The family will received friends on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. before the service at the church.
