James Daniel "Junior" Johnson

October 17, 1933 — August 20, 2017

James Daniel "Junior" Johnson went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 20, 2017, from NHC of Clinton.

He was born in Saluda, SC, a son of the late James Darlin and Sallie Mae Johnson.

He had to quit school as a young boy to help his mother support the family.
His favorite job in life was farming for Mr. Ryan Lawson in Joanna. James also worked as an auto mechanic at various places in Clinton and Laurens. He loved spending time with his family and liked to hunt, fish, whittle, and talk about the good old days.

He is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth (Charles) Steele, Becky (Glen) Browder, and Kathy Moore; a sister, Emma Carol Polson; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

James was predeceased by his wife, Audrey Moore Johnson, grandsons Brian and Bond Piester, and four sisters, Mrytle Tucker, Gean Woody, Betty Ann Milam and Sally Mae Gossett.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, August 21, 2017, at 5 PM at Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Clinton. Burial will take place following the service. The family will speak with visitors before and after the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Laurens County Humane Society, 793 Poplar Street, Clinton SC 29325.
