James Pennington

James Pennington, age 92, of 1401 E. Jerry Road, was called Home to plant his okra on Thursday, February 25, 2016.
He was born in Laurens and was a son of the late George and Lena Cissom Pennington.
Mr. Pennington was a man of many interests, but he especially loved the outdoors. He was a devoted grandfather and legal guardian of two of his grandchildren, Thomas Fuller and Melissa Willard.
He is survived by two sons, James E. Pennington (Cammie) of Laurens and George E. Pennington of Laurens; three daughters, Linda Owens (Billy) of Laurens, Brenda Radford of Laurens, and Barbara Blackwell (Norman) of Laurens; five sisters, Sara Hill, Jean Jones, Louise Owens, Dorothy Scott and Ellen Robertson; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and Tyler Fuller of the home.
In addition to his wife, Christine Pennington, and his parents, Mr. Pennington was predeceased by his brother, William Pennington, and his sisters, Ruth Ford, Helen Pennington and Jeanette Carlton.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 28th, at 3:00 P.M., at Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Laurens, followed by burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
