Jim Underwood, age 84, of 110 West Centennial Street, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2017 at his home.
He was born in Sand Mountain, AL and was a son of the late David and Lucy Gasaway Underwood.
Mr. Underwood was the owner and operator of Underwood’s Sewing and Vacuum Service for 22 years, he was a former employee of Laurens Shirt, a member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Clinton, and a member of the Campbell Masonic Lodge #44, and a member Hejaz Shrine Temple.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marie Looper Underwood of the home; his four sons, Ken Underwood (Terri) of Cross Hill, Tony Underwood (Audrey Austin) of Boone, NC, Mike Underwood (Vickie) of Clinton, Keith “Dink” Underwood (Fran) of Clinton; his four daughters, Debbie Plaxico (Robert) of Joanna, Kathy Edge (Bob Lee) of Clinton, Starr Underwood of Joanna, Stacy Underwood (Joey Gelband) of Cross Anchor; two granddaughters raised in the home, Sunshine Hayes and Crystal Patterson; nineteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren; and his faithful four footed friend, Buddy.
In addition to his parents he is predeceased by two brothers, his two sisters, and a granddaughter.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 3 PM at the church. Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 3 PM at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Clinton, burial will take place at Rosemont Cemetery.
