James "Papa J" E. Estes

James “Papa J” E. Estes, age 78 formerly of Clinton, died Sunday, Dec. 24th at the Laurels of Hendersonville in Hendersonville, NC.
He was born in Spartanburg and was a son of the late Sam and Daisy Turner Estes.
Mr. Estes was retired from Clinton Mills, Lydia Plant.
Surviving are one daughter, Brenda Estes Whitt of Hendersonville, NC; five sons, Ray Estes, Mitchell Estes, Tony Estes, Ricky Estes all of Hendersonville, NC and Barry Estes of Ruby, SC; two sisters, Zelma Abercrombie and Oralee Wehunt both of Clinton; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren; his companion, Sarah Dunaway of Clinton; two stepsons, Charles Dunaway of Cross Hill and Eddie Dunaway of Clinton and four step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Frances Gordon; three sons; four brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Dec. 27th at 11:00 a.m. in the Gray Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Rosemont Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral.
