James Pinckney Johnson, Jr.
James Pinckney Johnson, Jr., age 91 of 1291 Fairview Church Road, died Monday, August 31, 2010 in the Laurens County Hospital.
He was born in Goldville and was a son of the late James Pinckney Johnson, Sr. and Bessie Belle Workman Johnson.
Mr. James was a retired plumber from Whitten Center and formerly worked at Sanitary Plumbing in Greenville for 16 years. He graduated from Bush River High School in 1936; was a lifelong member of Fairview Baptist Church, also a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and member of the Joy Club. He was a 60 year member and Past Master of the Magnolia Lodge #355 A.F.M. in Joanna and a World War II Army Veteran.
Surviving are two grandsons, Michael Johnson and Kevin Johnson both of Kinards, and two great-grandchildren,Savannah Johnson and Ryan Johnson.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Louise Blakely Johnson, his son, James Blakely Johnson and his second wife, Fay Morgan Rogers Hall Johnson.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010 at 3:00 p.m in Fairview Baptist Church by Rev. Mark Bernshausen with burial in Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the church.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
