James R. “Pops” Burnett of 1420 Penland Road, died Wednesday Sept. 26th at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood.
He was born in Clinton and was the son of the late Fred and Agnes McMinn Burnett.
Mr. Burnett was retired from Greenwood Mills Joanna Plant and was a member of Davidson Street Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Ophelia Frierson Alexander Burnett of the home; a son, Tommy D. Burnett and wife Lee of Martinez, GA; a brother, Fred Burnett, Jr. and wife Velma of Clinton; two grandchildren; six step-children, Woody Alexander of Laurens, Shirley Webb and husband Dessie of Clinton, Carolyn Ray Thomas of Laurens, Jimmy Alexander and wife Barbara of Fletcher, NC, Linda Penland and husband Nickie of Laurens, Larry Alexander of Clinton; thirteen step-grandchildren; ten step-great grandchildren.
Mr. Burnett was predeceased by a son, Johnnie R. Burnett, a brother, Charles "Choc" Burnett and a step- grandson, Rusty Webb.
Graveside services will be conduced Friday at 3:00 p.m. at Rosemont Cemetery in Clinton. The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
