James R. Jacks, Sr. age 80 of 1504 A. B. Jacks Rd. died Wednesday, Jan. 11th at his home.
He was born in Clinton and was a son of the late A. B. Jacks, Sr. and the late Lois (Polly) Adair Jacks.
Mr. Jacks was the President of Carolina Cryogenics Company for 24 years and prior to that, he had a career in the dairy industry. He served his community on the Laurens County Council for 12 years. He was a lifelong member of the Leesville Southern Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Stewards and the Board of Trustees for many years. Mr. Jacks proudly served his country during World War II in the US Army, serving in combat operations in Holland, Belgium, France and Germany. Mr. Jacks was an avid golfer and sports fan, but first and foremost he loved his God, his church, his country and his family.
Surviving are his wife, Anita Cassanova Jacks of the home; one son, J. Rutledge Jacks, Jr. and his wife Ginger of Clinton; two daughters, Susan Jacks Adams and her husband Don of Clinton, Amy Jacks Dean and her husband Russ of Charlotte, NC; one brother, Erskine A. Jacks; two sisters, Almeda J. Rogers, Madge Robbins Waldrep all of Clinton; five grandchildren, Jennifer and Tim Howard, Katie Jacks, Cassie and Thad Gregory, Jackson and Bennett Dean and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Jacks was predeceased by a daughter, Anita C. Jacks, a grandson, Kevin Adams and a brother, A. B. Jacks, Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Jan. 13 in the Leesville Southern Methodist Church in Clinton with burial in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leesville Southern Methodist Church or Kevin’s Dream Scholarship Fund, both at 2021 A.B. Jacks Rd., Clinton, SC 29325.
