James William Cox, Sr.
James William Cox, Sr. age 83, of 848 Sunset Blvd. immediately stepped into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, April 15, 2010 in the Providence Hospital in Columbia.
He was born in Simpsonville and was the son of the late John Henry and Florence Brown Cox.
Mr. Cox was retired from the Anderson Hosiery Co., was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Reynolds Cox of the home; two daughters, Marjorie Cox Cox and her husband, Jerry of Woodstock, GA and Lena Cox Balkham of Fort Meyers, FL; a son, James William Cox, Jr. and his wife, Tracey of Charlotte, NC; one sister, Mae Cox Prohazka of Simsbury, CT; six grandchildren, Lori Cox Tidwell and husband, Robert, Alison Cox Blanton and husband, David, Heather Balkham Kotar and husband, Jason, Bradley Scott Balkham and wife, Kristen, James William Cox III, Jonathan William Cox and two great granddaughters, Reagan McKinley Tidwell and Hadley Ella Tidwell.
Mr. Cox was predeceased by six siblings.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 18th at 3:00 p.m. First Baptist Church of Clinton by Rev. Dr. Blake Harwell and Rev. Dr. Russell Dean, entombment will follow in the Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. at the church.
