J. D. (Bill) Shealy, age 79, of 504 N. Adair St. died Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at the Laurens County Hospital in Clinton.
He was born in Lexington County, SC and was the son of Mabel Kelly Shealy Williams of Columbia and the late Lester H. Shealy.
Mr. Shealy retired from Pet Dairy as Regional Manager of South East Georgia after 49 years of service. He was a member of the SC High School League Officials Association; a former college baseball umpire and Dixie Youth umpire. He officiated the 1995 Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas and the 1995 SC North/South All Star game. Mr. Shealy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clinton, the Signet Sunday School class and was a former Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He also, was a US Navy veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Joan Davenport Shealy of the home; two sons, Darrell Shealy and wife Robin of Charlotte, NC, Brian Shealy and wife Mary Beth of Clinton; one daughter, Phyllis Webb and husband Al of Clinton; one sister, Martha Amick and husband James of Columbia; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Aug. 11th at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with burial in Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
The family will greet friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the First Baptist Church.
