Jefferson Davis Coates

Jefferson Davis Coates, age 57, of 25825 Highway 72 East, won his fight against cancer when he entered his eternal home on Thursday, September 17, 2015.
He was born in Laurens, SC and was a son of Drucilla Buchanan Coates of Laurens and the late Charles W. “Peewee” Coates, Sr.
He enjoyed anything in the outdoors especially hunting and fishing. The time he spent on his plantation, where he raised his goats, loved to landscape and ride his farm equipment was always special to him. He was never alone because his dog, Roxie was there with him. Although he enjoyed all these things he loved his family above all of them.
In addition to his mother he is survived by the love of his life, Maxine Coates of Clinton; two daughters, Jadie Coates of Greer and Kate Coates Cheeks of Clinton; his brother, Charlie (Christy) Coates of Laurens; and his grandchildren, Kailey and Khloe Cheeks.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 19th at 2 PM at Community Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends Saturday before the service from 1 to 2 PM at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Laurens County, P.O. Box 178, Clinton, SC 29325.
The family will be at the home of Maxine Coates at 201 Lakewood Drive, Clinton, SC.
