Jerry Michael “Mike” Hendrix, 58, of Chapin, SC passed away on October 25, 2015 at Lexington Medical Center.
He was married to Verna Hendrix. They shared 26 years of marriage together.
Mike was born in Winston-Salem, NC. He was the son of Jerry and Hannah Hendrix.
He attended Clinton High School, in Clinton, SC. He began his career as an iron worker, and eventually worked up to being a steel fabrication project manager and plant manager. He supervised the construction of the steel frames of many well-known structures across the United States.
Mike had many interests and hobbies aside from work. He was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, archery, fly fishing, and bass fishing. He was also a gifted artist. And Mike had a passion for cars. After retirement Mike spent most of his time either fishing or building classic cars and hot rods at his Lake Murray home workshop.
Mike was survived by his wife, Verna; his three sons, Luke Hendrix (wife Briana, Tullahoma, TN), Josh Hendrix (wife Sunni, Foley, AL), and Dakota Hendrix (Tullahoma, TN); his daughter, Rachel Moore (husband Aaron, Columbus, OH); two brothers, Jeff Hendrix (Lexington, SC) and Randy Hendrix (Joanna, SC); sister, Sandy Webb (Joanna, SC); five grandchildren, Lalei, Jerzy, Giselle, Chase, and Jeremiah; and his father, Jerry Hendrix (Clinton, SC). He was predeceased by his mother, Hannah Hendrix.
Memorial Services will be held at Gray Funeral Home in Clinton, SC on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 6 PM. Visitation will be held before the service, from 4 PM until 6 PM at the funeral home.
The family requests that donations be made to your local humane society in lieu of flowers, in memory of Mike Hendrix, in honor of his love for his dog, Racer.
